چکیده

Visual attention is a set of tasks with an ubiquitous role in vision and action. It is mediated by large neural networks spanning several areas of the brain. Its two major systems, the anterior and posterior attention networks, are responsible for voluntary and reflexive visual attention, respectively, and may be affected differentially by aging, reading disability, and traumatic brain injury. We review the neurophysiological basis and psychophysical studies of attention, with special emphasis to clinical disorders of visual attention and possibilities for treatment of attentional deficits.
